History

The vessel was built in 1901 in Martenshoek. Originally it was a freighter that transported various goods such as wood, natural stones, grain, furs, hard coal and iron. Her trips took her to Scandinavia and Russia, to the Baltic States, to Poland, Germany, England, Belgium and France. Due to its dimensions and the foldable mast one was able to drive far into the land. In the fifties, the mast and rigging were removed, the hatch openings were enlarged to anchor windlass and a 40 PS diesel engine was installed. With a wheelhouse behind the roof, she was now a motor ship and did her job reliable until the seventies. After a long time the vessel was changed into a sailing vessel in the nineties.

Ship

The Confiance is a solid and comfortable sailing vessel with a homeport in Harlingen, the Netherlands. Although she dates back to 1901, in 2014 the owners have renovated the vessel, modernizing the interior. Since then she has received a new galley, new cabins and a new dayroom. Now everything is bright and light, the tables large, and a comfortable lounge corner invites the guests for dining in. The trainees are welcome on board to spend magnificent time sailing with a professional crew.

Accommodation

The Confiance is sailed with a Skipper and first Mate, who are both full time professional sailors, and up to 21-22 trainees. Accommodation for the trainees consists of 1 one/ to two bed cabin, 6 two bed cabins and 2 four bed cabins. The cabins have a washbasin and storage space for your luggage. Shower / WC are in the corridor.
