Eendracht:
Lerwick, Shetland Islands (GB) - Rotterdam (NL)

29 July - 04 August 2023

Active Sailing from Shetland islands to Rotterdam. Imagine yourself back in the time of the Vikings Well preserved settlements and ruins in a rugged and spectacular landscape of pristine beaches, crystal clear waters and fjords with monumental rock formations and cliffs. More unspoilt than the Scottish Highlands, these Scottish islands are a must for nature lovers and adventurers. Due to the northeast location and the clear water you can spot a lot of wildlife, such as whales and dolphins and on the islands there are a lot of puffins and other seabirds. Follow the footsteps of the Vikings and step aboard for this impressive sailing trip from Lerwick to Rotterdam.
For all Windseekers aged 15-80 years. Prefer a cabin alone? This is also possible. There is a surcharge of 50% of the p.p.p. on-board price for a double cabin. Please note: limited availability. Pre-night possible, based on bed and brekfast (no other meals), one night before the journey: €75 per person (€37,50 for trainees under 25 years old).

Ports

Lerwick is the capital of the Shetland Islands, 160 km north off the coast of Scotland. In 1999 the town of 7500 inhabitants was a host port to the Tall Ships Races, temporarily boosting the population by over 100%! The town itself is small, but there are beautiful sights to see, like Fort Charlotte, the Shetland museum and the ruins of Clickimin Broch. The island's windswept hills are perfect for a strenuous hike, and will give you a good reason to replenish lost calories in the town’s tavern.

Rotterdam is the largest port of Europe, and a modern, bustling town. Much of the historic city centre was destroyed during World War II, but extensive rebuilding resulted in a modern, multicultural city with many architectural highlights. Rotterdam has excellent cultural facilities and a diverse nightlife; during the summer the city hosts a large number of events. Discover the city by bicycle and go for a coffee in Hotel New York, the former headquarters of the Holland America Line.

STO Garant

This Journey is covered by the STO Garant guarantee. You can find the conditions for this guarantee scheme on STO Garant’s website (www.sto-garant.nl/en/downloads).

This process is automatic and you do not need to do anything else. After receiving your booking, Windseeker will send you detailed information on how and when to pay for your journey – together with all the other important details.

What does it mean?

In short: you do not pay the booking amount to Windseeker but instead into an escrow account. This trust account holds your payment in reserve until your journey’s end. The booking amount is then released to Windseeker on the day after your trip ends. If Windseeker or the Ship should become financially insolvent before the end of your trip, STO Garant will implement the guarantee. The Guarantee Scheme details how you can make a claim under the guarantee in such cases. You can read more about this here.
