Gothenburg (SE) - Gothenburg (SE)

Sustainable Youth Exchange for trainees from the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden. Once again the Swedish ship Ingo welcomes young trainees for an international voyage. Join them for an unforgettable experience of sailing, making friends, and learning about the marine environment. Learn to steer, work with sails, and navigate; make useful knots and sing traditional shanties. Try national foods from other countries and share your own culture with your crew mates. Visit new places and leave them cleaner than you’ve found them. Stop along the way to meet another Ship – Skibladner II, also filled with international Windseekers, to exchange stories, experiences, and make even more new friends!
For young Windseekers aged 18-25 from the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden (you must be at least 18 years old on the day of the journey start). Participating Windseekers need to become members of their country’s Sail Training organisations for a small fee (approx. € 20 – € 50).
No more places available for Dutch and Swedish trainees.

About the Journey

Join the Swedish Ship Ingo for an adventurous youth sailing trip. Step on board in Gothenburg and set sail for new horizons. Learn to navigate, steer, stand on lookout and work with sails, while singing shanties, making knots, and spending time in an international group. Sail day and night, divided into watches, and learn everything you need to know from the experienced crew. Meet up with the Skibladner II, another Ship sailing with an Exchange@sea group, and talk about your experiences.

Join plastic research of the seas with The Ocean Movement facilitator. Learn about life in the oceans, and how it's impacted by human activity. Study the water pollution with a Manta trawl, and analyse the results before sending them to a global database, contributing to a worldwide research. Organise beach cleanups and engage the local public to create long-lasting impact. Make your own plastic-free cosmetics, and brainstorm for the cleaner future.

Make new friends from different countries, cultures, and social backgrounds. Join activities organised by mentors to get to know each other better. Give a short presentation of your country with the others in the group, and then share your national dish with everyone. Try snacks from other countries, learn how others spend their free time, and what music they listen to. Join games, and friendly competitions, and create long-lasting connections.

No budget? No worries! The Windseeker Dinghy will help you get on board. The program, much more than just a fundraising training, is part of your preparation and included in the Exchanges. Raise money for your journey, supported by an experienced coach. Learn new things about yourself and gain life skills. It is also a great way to connect with other trainees. Let us know at booking if you’d like to take part. Join Dinghy and get going!

STO Garant

This Journey is covered by the STO Garant guarantee. You can find the conditions for this guarantee scheme on STO Garant’s website (www.sto-garant.nl/en/downloads).

This process is automatic and you do not need to do anything else. After receiving your booking, Windseeker will send you detailed information on how and when to pay for your journey – together with all the other important details.

What does it mean?

In short: you do not pay the booking amount to Windseeker but instead into an escrow account. This trust account holds your payment in reserve until your journey’s end. The booking amount is then released to Windseeker on the day after your trip ends. If Windseeker or the Ship should become financially insolvent before the end of your trip, STO Garant will implement the guarantee. The Guarantee Scheme details how you can make a claim under the guarantee in such cases. You can read more about this here.
