Morgenster:
Horta, Azores (PT) - Den Helder (NL)

16 March - 30 March 2025

Step on board tall ship Morgenster in Horta, on the island of Faial. Leaving the Azores, there is a high chance of seeing whales, as well as dolphins, sunfish, and plenty of sea birds. Soon, even those will become less frequent, as you make your way across the open ocean towards Europe. Sail in watches, day and night, towards the English Channel and the North Sea. If the time permits, you might make a stop in an English or French port before sailing to the Netherlands and disembarking in Den Helder.
This voyage is recommended for experienced and fit sailors.
Open to all Windseekers aged 18-73 years (please note that this is not a youth voyage and we expect a big variety of ages on board). Younger trainees, accompanied by an adult, at request. This booking is covered by VZR Garant (instead of Windseeker’s usual STO Garant).

Ports

Horta is situated in the western part of the Archipelago of the Azores on the island of Faial. The marina is a primary stop for yachts crossing the Atlantic. Its walls and walkways are covered in paintings created by the crews of visiting ships. Peter's Cafe Sport, located across from the marina, houses the island's scrimshaw museum. A collection of artefacts carved from whale tooth and jawbone. This café is a point of reference for trans-Atlantic yachtsmen and sailors.

Den Helder is a beautiful town in the Netherlands, situated at the very tip of the North Holland province, regularly hosting the Tall Ships events. Discover the town's sea connections by visiting the Marinemuseum and Nationaal Reddingmuseum Dorus Rijkers. Take a break and go for a walk in the botanical gardens Oranjerie De Groene Parel Den Helder or admire sea life in the Fort Kijkduin Museum and Aquarium.
