Helena

History

The gaff schooner, Helena, was built in 1992 in Finland, and was planned by Ribadaeu Dumas. The first 19 years of her operational use she sailed an astonishing 550 000 nautical miles. She has rounded Cape Horn, sailed up to the Artic Circle by visiting Svalbard and crossed the 80th longitude.
Helena was refitted in 2012 and is now rigged as a Bermuda Schooner.

Ship

The schooner “Helena” has proved herself to be a fast and seaworthy sailing boat by virtue of her stylish construction and rigging. She is a prime example of the high standards in the Finnish art of boatbuilding. This flag ship of the Finnish Sail Training fleet representing the centre of youth work combining adventure pursuits under sail.

Accommodation

Helena can accommodate 24 sail trainees. Usually she sails with 22 sail trainees, 2 mentors and a staff of 4 crew. The cabins are designed for 6 persons.
