Programme Outline

Ports

Montevideo is the capital of Uruguay, situated on the north shore of Río de la Plata, the arm of the Atlantic Ocean that separates Uruguay from Argentina; with Buenos Aires on the other side. Visit the Ciudad Vieja with the city's oldest buildings, several museums, art galleries and the Mercado del Puerto. Walk over the Rambla, a coastal avenue. Go to Fortaleza del Cerro for a view over the bay. Walk through the botanical gardens of parque Prado. Enjoy the beach (13 km) or Uruguayan tango.

Ushuaia is commonly regarded as the most southern city in the World or 'El Fin del Mundo'. This Argentinian port is known as a starting point for expeditions to Antarctica. The city was originally built up around a prison in the early 20th century, but today tourists come to Ushuaia to visit the national park Tierra del Fuego, go skiing in the nearby mountains, or sail the Beagle canal. Ushuaias’ windy subpolar climate serves to reinforce the notion that you’re at the ‘end of the world’.
