Gallant:
Vlissingen (NL) - Oostende (BE)

18 May - 25 May 2016

It’s time to escape and go on an adventure! Join the Gallant for her Centennial Cruise 2016 from Vlissingen, the Netherlands to Oostende. Meet fellow Windseekers on deck, where you will quickly learn to work as a team, under the guidance of the crew. Set and trim the sails, do some ropework, climb the rigging if circumstances allow, and help out with ship upkeep and navigation. Your yourney will take you across the North Sea to Ramsgate in Southeast England, where you can explore the city before heading towards Oostende, in time for the event “Oostende voor Anker”. Make new friends, enjoy the open skies, visit new places, and get away from it all – all in just one week! Windseekers can join from all ages, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Vlissingen, a city in the southwestern Netherlands on the former island of Walcheren.
Vlissingen is mainly noted for the yards on the Scheldt where most of the ships of the Royal Netherlands Navy.

Oostende is a seaport and tourism destination on the Belgian coast. The original belle époque architecture was largely destroyed by two world wars (and the advent of mass tourism), but the city still has plenty of worthwhile sights to see, such as the Mu.ZEE, the Petrus and Paulus church, and the fort Napolean. Visit one of the museums, check out the lively cultural agenda, and check out a Belgian tavern for a ‘pinteke’. And don’t forget the beach, which can be crowded in the summer!
