Eendracht:
Rotterdam (NL) - Leixoes (PT)

04 January - 12 January 2024

Follow the sun: sailing south for the winter. Where the hikers follow Santiago de Compostela, you can hoist the sails and set course for Porto (Leixoes). This active sailing trip will take you via the Normandy and along the Spanish and Portuguese coast, with the main hub of port and fado as the final destination. Leixoes has an easy tram connection to the city centre of Porto where you can visit the centuries-old port houses and become known with the Portuguese song of life, Fado. Can’t get enough of this beautiful city and the port? Combine your trip with an additional after-night stay on board (prices depending on the cabin.)
Open to Windseekers aged 15-80.

Ports

Rotterdam is the largest port of Europe, and a modern, bustling town. Much of the historic city centre was destroyed during World War II, but extensive rebuilding resulted in a modern, multicultural city with many architectural highlights. Rotterdam has excellent cultural facilities and a diverse nightlife; during the summer the city hosts a large number of events. Discover the city by bicycle and go for a coffee in Hotel New York, the former headquarters of the Holland America Line.

Leixoes is a port town in northern Portugal, only 10 km out of Porto. It's one of Portugal's major seaports located near the estuary of the Douro River. Take a walk to the old fortifications, dine in one of the many seafood restaurants and then relax on a sandy beach. If you have more time and would like to explore, take a trip to nearby Porto, famous for its architecture - and wine!

STO Garant

This Journey is covered by the STO Garant guarantee. You can find the conditions for this guarantee scheme on STO Garant’s website (www.sto-garant.nl/en/downloads).

This process is automatic and you do not need to do anything else. After receiving your booking, Windseeker will send you detailed information on how and when to pay for your journey – together with all the other important details.

What does it mean?

In short: you do not pay the booking amount to Windseeker but instead into an escrow account. This trust account holds your payment in reserve until your journey’s end. The booking amount is then released to Windseeker on the day after your trip ends. If Windseeker or the Ship should become financially insolvent before the end of your trip, STO Garant will implement the guarantee. The Guarantee Scheme details how you can make a claim under the guarantee in such cases. You can read more about this here.
