Excelsior:
Skive (DK) - Lowestoft (GB)

15 September - 26 September 2025

*Places at request.* Navigational and seamanship training voyage. Join the Excelsior in Skive, a picturesque Danish harbour, for an educational voyage to Lowestoft, Great Britain. This trip is designed to develop the navigational skills of the crew, as you’ll work together to decide, according to the forecasts and charts, the best route for the ship. Everyone on board will have the opportunity to make a passage plan, under the guidance of professional crew, and grow their capacities: be it working towards an RYA certificate such as Day Skipper or Yachtmaster, or just for their own personal development. This is an excellent mile-builder and training exercise for those looking to take their seamanship to the next level. You’ll also learn important skills such as provisioning and meal planning for a longer voyage, leadership (everyone will have the chance to lead their watch), and the planning required to take into account the quirks of a traditional rig. Finally, you will train for various manoeuvres involving a traditional set-up like Excelsior’s. This voyage will include both tidal and non-tidal waters, night passages, and a North Sea crossing.
Open to all Windseekers aged 15+.

Ports

Skive is a town in northwest Denmark, located at the mouth of the Karup River and the Skive Fjord, a part of the Limfjord. This picturesque town is a host to a Skive Kunstmuseum art museum, the Mønsted Limestone Caves and a 14th century Spøttrup Castle.

Lowestoft is a town on the North Sea coast of England. It is an old sea port and fishing center. Cherish the atmosphere of the lively harbour with its fountains, coffee shops and little food stands. Visit the Mincarlo - Floating Maritime Museum to learn about the life of fishermen in the old days or an old Lowestoft and East Suffolk Maritime Museum run by volunteers who will happily share their knowledge. For a relaxing afternoon take a walk in Somerleyton Hall and Gardens.

OTHER JOURNEYS YOU MIGHT LIKE

STO Garant

This Journey is covered by the STO Garant guarantee. You can find the conditions for this guarantee scheme on STO Garant’s website (www.sto-garant.nl/en/downloads).

This process is automatic and you do not need to do anything else. After receiving your booking, Windseeker will send you detailed information on how and when to pay for your journey – together with all the other important details.

What does it mean?

In short: you do not pay the booking amount to Windseeker but instead into an escrow account. This trust account holds your payment in reserve until your journey’s end. The booking amount is then released to Windseeker on the day after your trip ends. If Windseeker or the Ship should become financially insolvent before the end of your trip, STO Garant will implement the guarantee. The Guarantee Scheme details how you can make a claim under the guarantee in such cases. You can read more about this here.
