Morgenster:
Palmeira (CV) - Horta, Azores (PT) - Den Helder (NL)

01 March - 30 March 2025

Find the Morgenster in the bay of Palmeira, and reach the ship by dinghy to start your adventure! This trip you step into the real sailor’s life. You will be part of the crew, and participate in navigational watches to bring the ship to your destination. Leave the tropical sun and warm weather behind and set course for the open ocean. Make your way towards the Azores: with the changing winds, there will be plenty to do on deck! Set the sails, reef, unreeve, and adjust the course to ensure the best possible sailing for the Morgenster. Closer to the Azores, there is a good chance of seeing whales, as well as dolphins, sunfish, and plenty of sea birds. Arrive in Horta on the island of Faial, to stretch your sea legs and replenish supplies for the long journey to Europe. Set sail again to cross the Atlantic Ocean towards the English Channel and the North Sea. If the time permits, you might make a stop in an English or French port before sailing to the Netherlands and disembarking in Den Helder.
This voyage is recommended for experienced and fit sailors.
Open to all Windseekers aged 18-73 years. Younger trainees, accompanied by an adult, at request. This booking is covered by VZR Garant (instead of Windseeker’s usual STO Garant).

Ports

Palmeira is the third-largest town in Cape Verde, situated on the island of Sal, yet still has a small, village atmosphere. When you land in Palmeira you will have just completed an Atlantic Crossing, or at least a hefty 2700km sail south from Europe. Whilst resting in Palmeira, visit some bars and restaurants, or explore further to desert Oases, caves and beaches.

Den Helder is a beautiful town in the Netherlands, situated at the very tip of the North Holland province, regularly hosting the Tall Ships events. Discover the town's sea connections by visiting the Marinemuseum and Nationaal Reddingmuseum Dorus Rijkers. Take a break and go for a walk in the botanical gardens Oranjerie De Groene Parel Den Helder or admire sea life in the Fort Kijkduin Museum and Aquarium.
