Morgenster:
Santa Cruz de Tenerife (ES) - Palmeira (CV)

25 November - 02 December 2024

To Cape Verde! Embark on the Dutch tall ship Morgenster in Tenerife, and set out for a crossing of 700 nautical miles towards the island of Sal in Cape Verde. Let the trade winds and Canary Current push you in the right direction, while you’re enjoying the warm and sunny weather on deck. There is not as many ships here, but if you pay attention there is a lot to see. Seabirds, dolphins, flying fish and the occasional sunfish. If we are lucky maybe even a sea turtle or whale! Drop the anchor near Palmeira, and spend the last night on board celebrating the successful voyage with your new friends. As the Ship sails on, consider extending your own stay by booking accommodation on the island of Sal and visiting Cape Verde for a few days.
This voyage is recommended for experienced and fit sailors.
Open to all Windseekers aged 18-73 years. Younger trainees, accompanied by an adult, at request. This booking is covered by VZR Garant (instead of Windseeker’s usual STO Garant).

Ports

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the shared capital of the Canary Islands, together with Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The central square Plaza de España is a real eye-catcher, situated between the ocean and the old, bustling city centre. Lose yourself in the crowded alleys, find a spot on one of the terraces, or leave town and discover the rugged volcanic landscape. The museum of Nature and Man is worth a visit. Chances are you’ll find pilot whales in the waters around Tenerife, so keep an eye out!

Palmeira is the third-largest town in Cape Verde, situated on the island of Sal, yet still has a small, village atmosphere. When you land in Palmeira you will have just completed an Atlantic Crossing, or at least a hefty 2700km sail south from Europe. Whilst resting in Palmeira, visit some bars and restaurants, or explore further to desert Oases, caves and beaches.
