Oosterschelde:
Havana (CU) - Galveston (US)

28 March - 05 April 2018

Sail with the Oosterschelde from Cuba to Texas. You will start the voyage in Hemmingway Marina, around 6 miles from Havana. This short voyage can get quite exciting while crossing the Caribbean Sea, which can get restless due to currents and trade winds. Once you reach the Gulf of Mexico, though, the sailing should become more smooth, giving you the opportunity to enjoy yourself while on board. You will be part of a watch system and work together with the professional crew to bring the Oosterschelde to Galveston where you can expect to see many other vessels gathering for a sailing festival. Open for all ages, minimum age 15 years. Please make sure that your travel documents (passport, visas) are up to date. Be aware that there can be differences between arriving in country by air and by sea. We advise you to contact the US embassy in your country for details.

Ports

Havana is a place where time seems to have stopped, in a country for a long time closed to the public because of many political tensions. Architecture has been preserved from the ravages of modernism, colors, faded with time, are evidence of the splendor of the Spanish imprint. La Habana Vieja is a UNESCO heritage site. Discover the place that inspired Hemingway, ride a taxi particular and listen to the omnipresent music to submerge yourself in the unique Cuban atmosphere.

Galveston is an island city in Texas located next to the Gulf of Mexico. If you are into history, Galveston is definitely your place to visit, because it is home to six historic districts, so museums and mansions. Take a peek at the Rainforest Pyramid in the Moody Gardens botanical park, visit the free admission Galveston Arts Center and discover the Strand district full of historic heritage.
