Scrabster (GB) - Oban (GB)

28 August - 07 September 2024

Whisky sailing journey in Scotland. Spend 10 days of your summer sailing a Tall Ship and learning about whisky at the source: in coastal distilleries of Scotland. Board Thalassa in Scrabster and set course for Oban, visitng several places along the way. Each day you will sail a little bit further, and spend the night in a different coastal town. You will have the chance to visit local distilleries and learn in detail about one of Scotland’s most famous exports. One whisky tasting with an expert on board is included in the journey fee. Shore excursions, including distilleries, are not mandatory and the entry fees are not included. Open to all Windseekers over 21 years of age.

Ports

Scrabster is a small but town on the north coast of Scotland. Conveniently located on the Thurso Bay, the settlement dates back to the Vikings. Nowadays it's a gateway to the Orkney Islands by ferry, and a bustling fishing port.

Oban (meaning ‘little bay’ in Gaelic) is a small harbor town on the west coast of Scotland, famous for its whiskey distillery. The town occupies a beautiful setting in the Firth of Lorn, and is a perfect place to find shelter from the Atlantic. Walking around town is a pleasure, and close by you’ll find mountains, castles, dramatic coastal scenery, and McCaig’s tower that resembles the Colosseum. In the first week of August, the town plays host to West Highland week, a yearly sailing regatta.

STO Garant

This Journey is covered by the STO Garant guarantee. You can find the conditions for this guarantee scheme on STO Garant’s website (www.sto-garant.nl/en/downloads).

This process is automatic and you do not need to do anything else. After receiving your booking, Windseeker will send you detailed information on how and when to pay for your journey – together with all the other important details.

What does it mean?

In short: you do not pay the booking amount to Windseeker but instead into an escrow account. This trust account holds your payment in reserve until your journey’s end. The booking amount is then released to Windseeker on the day after your trip ends. If Windseeker or the Ship should become financially insolvent before the end of your trip, STO Garant will implement the guarantee. The Guarantee Scheme details how you can make a claim under the guarantee in such cases. You can read more about this here.
