Small Ships
Constantia
History
Constantia was built in 1908 in Marstal, Denmark as a trading vessel and came to Sweden in 1920. For years the Ship has sailed along the coast of Sweden with timber, limestone, cement and grain, and later also salt, stone, and potatoes. In 1968 she retired as a cargo Ship. A private owner bought Constantia in 1988, and started a major renovation. A foundation created in 1995 now owns the Ship, which is used primarily as a Sail Training Ship.
Ship
Constantia is regularly sailing with both passengers and trainees primarily in and around Stockholm, Sweden. Every summer the Ship makes longer trips, visiting places like Denmark or Finland. Although the Baltic is her homeground, she’s been known to sail to England as well. Full of competitive spirit, Constantia participates in the Tall Ships Races, as well as other events, such as Fyn Rundt 2019.
Constantia’s dedicated crew aims to provide Sail Training activities for young people through special youth Journeys.
Accommodation
A communal living is what it's about on board Constantia! There are 16 2-person bunks in the saloon, and 2 in the forecastle, all for trainees, with the crew sleeping in the aft. Two vacuum toilets are available on board, although there is no shower. A fully equipped galley has a gas stove and an oven.
